Merry Christmas!

Today is Christmas Day. What a wonderful Christmas it has been. My son Brian came home from the hospital today. That makes it a great day! For him, and for all of us. We thought he might come home yesterday, but it just didn't work out. The doctors tried to get him home, but, he was not quite ready. So, this morning after our dear Evie opened up her Christmas presents from Santa, Dawna and I drove down to Pittsburgh once again to spend Christmas with my son Brian. We must have seen 4-5 doctors today. On Christmas Day? Hard to believe that many doctors were working today. They told us Brian has had Hershbergers disease his entire life. This causes his bowels to not function properly. The one doctor said he has had this since birth. He was amazed that no one caught this when he was a little boy. I have had Brian in to see many doctors when he was growing up, and no one caught this problem. They all said nothing was wrong with Brian, that he just would not move his bowels. They all thought it was just him, not wanting to go. At least now, we know what the problem was. And now, we can get him the help he needs. He is still going to need more surgery in a few months, but, this is all workable now, as long as he does what the doctors need him to do. So, he is now back home with Joey and his mother. Merry Christmas, Brian!
After we took him home, Dawna and I stopped at Denny's for a little dinner. We have started making this our tradition. Usually we go to a movie, and then to Denny's, but since we had to go to Pittsburgh, we skipped the movie, but still had dinner at Denny's. After dinner we went and saw Nathan and Mindie and Jim. Then we came home to a nice quiet house. Randy and Evelyn went to a Christmas party, so Dawna and I are enjoying the quiet while we can. Evelyn is a beautiful little girl, but, she does get a bit rambunctious at times. I will miss her when she leaves, but the quiet is nice right now. I hope you all had a nice Christmas today. Enjoy your families, and remember the real meaning of Christmas.

Super Steelers

Wow! What a game the Steelers played today. They beat the Baltimore Ravens 13-9, and clinched the AFC North Division title. Plus, they gained a first round bye in the playoffs this year. If they win their last 2 games they will be the number 1 seed for the entire playoffs. They should be a favorite to get to the super bowl this year. What a team! They were behind the entire game until 43 seconds left in the 4Th quarter. The Steelers completed a pass to Santonio Holms at the goal line, and it was initially ruled not a touchdown. After the refs reviewed the play, it was overturned and they gave the Steelers a touchdown, which won the game. The Steelers never give up. They are a great 4Th quarter team. They came back last week against the Cowboys and won it in the 4Th quarter. And they did it again against the hated Ravens. Next up is Tennessee. They have 12 wins, and the Steelers have 11. If the Steelers can beat the Titans and the Cleveland Browns in their last game, then they should go all the way to the Super Bowl this year! GO STEELERS!!!!

Brian

My oldest son Brian, who is 25 years old has had a very bad week. I got a phone call last Sunday evening from Joey, who told me that Brian was taken to the hospital in Sharon, because he had passed out twice during the day. I figured he would be okay, passing out didn't sound like anything that I needed to go to the hospital for. I told Joey to keep me posted, and he said he would. Around 1:30 in the morning on Monday, joey called me to tell me that Brian had blood clots in his lungs and his leg. I then realized that this was very serious and Dawna and I rushed to the Sharon Hospital. Once we got there, we got to see Brian, and he was not doing real good. He has had problems over the years moving his bowels. It has been an on-going problem with him, but, I didn't realize how bad it was until that day. His stomach was distended badly. Kind of like he was 11 months pregnant. The nurse said they were going to monitor him for the night, and gave him blood thinners for the clots. Dawna and I went home and slept for a few hours, and then went back to the hospital around noon. About 4PM, the doctor talked to me, and said they could not do anything else for him there, and they were going to life flight him to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. I knew this was bad, but, I didn't want to think what could happen to him. Dawna and I went to Kmart and picked up some things, we were not sure how long we would be in Pittsburgh, and then we were on our way, with joey and my ex-wife Denise in tow with us. Taking my ex wife was not a good idea, but, she had no other way to get there. After spending all day at the hospital, and most of the night, and the ride to Pittsburgh I remembered why I did not want to be married to her. She is a real trip! More on her later. We got to Allegheny Hospital around 6:30 PM, and I got a phone call from Sharon hospital telling me that Brian had not left yet. They could not fly the helicopter, due to freezing rain, so they had to send a ambulance from Butler to Allegheny hospital to pick up a nurse, then they went to Sharon to get Brian. This made for a long wait in the waiting room in Pittsburgh. While we were waiting, Denise's sister and her husband and daughter showed up to wait with us. Brian finally got to the hospital around 10:15PM. They stabilized him, and told us they would not do anything that night, except to monitor him. I saw no reason to stay there, while they did nothing. So, Dawna and I decided to head home for the night, and go back the next day. Denise road home with her sister, which made us happy. I don't think Dawna and I could have handled listening to her all the way home. We did have to pick her up the next morning and take her back down with us. Another long ride, listening to her whine about her cold. We stayed there till 2PM, and got to see Brian, but, they still weren't going to do anything that day. Dawna and I went home for the day, and let Denise go back with her sister again. My daughter Tiffany showed up at the hospital with her girl friend Jill. Another long story there. My niece, Sarah drove them down. We had more people there, than most people have in the hospital waiting room. Anyhow, They finally did some surgery on Brian on Thursday morning. They basically did a colonoscopy and cleaned him out. Not a pretty sight, but, they had to do this. I have not been back to the hospital since Tuesday, but I have talked to Brian on the phone, and communicated with the doctors to monitor his progress. I will be going back to see him on Tuesday of this week. He is doing better, but, he is still in CCU. He came very close to not making it through all this. He really gave us all a scare. We need to keep praying for his recovery, and for him to get all the help he needs. I will let you know more when I find out more.

OH,the weather outside is frightful.....

Yes, the snow is piling up here. It started snowing today while I was out delivering mail. And it is very cold! The wind was howling all day. I wasn't real cold, except for my face. I wear long underwear, sweater, jacket, gloves, and a stocking cap. I have a stocking cap, that covers my face, but, I really don't like wearing it. I can't see much from the sides, and I do need to watch for dogs. Anyhow, we are supposed to get 6 inches of snow tonight. I am off the next 2 days, so I really don't care how much it snows. I do need to get out my snow blower, and get some fresh gas and oil for it. I should have done that before winter got here, but I have just been too busy. I have been working way too much. I am going to enjoy my next 2 days. Tomorrow, is football. Steelers are playing the cowboys. That should be a wild game. Steelers are having a great year. They beat up on the Patriots last Sunday. They have a real good shot at going to the super bowl. I sure hope that happens. Okay, got to go watch some college football. And, watch the snow fly!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all. I hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving with your families and friends. we had a wonderful day today. Mindie and Jim hosted a delightful thanksgiving dinner at their home. They really did a nice job as hosts. The house was all decorated and clean, and everyone brought the best food for dinner. Dawna's Mom and her husband, C.R. were there. And her brothers, Denny and Daryl came. Dawna's best friend Deb and her husband Randy and their daughter Olivia joined us for dinner, also. And Randy came home from Texas yesterday, so he was there, too. He is living with us, while he is home. We all had a very nice day together, and we all had a lot to be thankful for. The weather was nice, no more snow, and the sun was out almost all day. We all had plenty to eat, and their was plenty of leftovers. My parents spent thanksgiving with my sister in Florida. I hope they had a nice day with them. I am very thankful for having such wonderful parents, and for having such a loving family. I am also thankful for my wife, Dawna. She means the world to me. I hope you all have as nice as a day as we had here. Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Lots and lots of snow

We got buried in snow the past 2 days. A total of over 15 inches has fallen over the past 48 hours. That is way too much snow, and it is still fall! I hate snow. Especially since I have to walk through it all day, delivering the mail. It has been a rough couple of days. My legs were very sore yesterday when I got home. Trudging through the snow really wore me out. My darling wife fixed me a hot bath when I got home, and I soaked my tired old legs in the tub. It felt really good. I haven't taken a bath in years. I usually take a shower. I miss our hot tub, but, this was not bad. We are thinking of putting in a wood burner in our basement. A friend of ours is going to come over and see if it can be done, and if it can he will install it. It should save us a lot of money on our gas bill.
My mom and dad are going to Florida on Monday to see my sister Chris and her family. They are staying for 10 days. Lucky them! wish I was going with them. Maybe Dawna and I will take another vacation next spring, and head back to Florida. I think we will drive this time, and take a longer sight seeing tour. Maybe head to New Jersey first and see Steve and Michelle, then head down to North Carolina and see Daryl. From there, head down to Florida and visit with Chris and Tom. If Dawna's dad is still there, we will go see him too. Should be fun.
Not much else going on here. Getting ready to watch the Pitt Panther play Cincinnati in College football. Have a great day.

A new day

Okay, I have to admit, I have been slacking off from writing on my blog. I have no excuses. It has been 10 days since I have attempted to write anything. I was upset for awhile about my cousin Kathy passing away. Maybe that's why I didn't write. I don't know. I have been working a lot. But, I also had last Tuesday off for Veteran's day. So, no more excuses.
I finally finished moving all my steeler stuff into the basement. My new steeler room is ready to be used again! I will have to post pictures of it on here. It is actually pretty neat. Joey and I watched some football down there yesterday. Dawna needed some quiet to work on her concert, so we went to the man cave. Even Teddy came down for a little bit, while Dawna took a nap. He doesn't like walking down the stairs to the basement, so I had to carry him down.
Dawna sang at our church last night. She had a special concert after our thanksgiving dinner at the church. It was very nice. She always does a nice job when she sings. I could listen to her sing all the time. She sang to me at our wedding. A song called "Valentine." It was the first song she ever sang to me. Then she sang it again at our wedding. It was very special to me.
I am watching Monday night football as I am writing this. The Cleveland browns are playing the Buffalo bills. I hope the bills win. I hate the browns. Of course, the browns are ahead 13-0 now. Not looking good for the bills. The steelers won yesterday. 11-10. First time ever in professional football that a game ended with a 11-10 score. Pretty crazy.
My mom and dad stopped by for a few minutes this afternoon. They were on their way home from my dad's doctor appointment in Pittsburgh. It was nice to see them. They only live 10 minutes away, and I don't get up to see them as often as I would like.
Well, almost bedtime for me. I better let the dog out to pee, and then hit the hay. I will try and be better at wring on here again. No more excuses!

Saying good bye.....

My cousin, Kathy Fagley passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008. Election Day. Guess I will remember that day for more reasons than one. Today was her funeral. Dawna and I went along with a majority of my family and many cousins and friends of hers. It was a very tough morning. The minister asked if anyone wanted to get up and speak about memories of Kathy. When Kathy's mother got up and started talking, I couldn't stop weeping for her. Then her younger brother Michael got up and started talking, and I lost it. Michael is also my god child, along with being my nephew. This is a very special family. Kathy's daughter, Amanda, who is 12 years old, could not leave her father's side. I felt so bad for her. Cancer is such a devastating disease. She just found out she had cancer less than a month ago, and now she is gone. So tragic, and so sad. I will miss her so much. Please, pray for her family. This is a very tough, trying time for them. So many unanswered questions. So many doubts. Just pray, please..

Prayers are needed

This is going to be a very hard blog to write today. My cousin, Kathy, who is 42 years old, was diagnosed with liver cancer a week and a half ago. The doctors said the cancer was inoperable and a transplant was out of the question. Not good news. Yesterdays news was worse. The doctors have given her a week to live. How can this be?? Kathy is much too young to be taken away now. She has a daughter who is 12 or 13. I am not sure exactly how old. Kathy's dad died when he was 43 from cancer. Dawna and I are going to Butler hospital on Thursday to see Kathy and to probably say good bye to her. That will be so difficult to do. How do you say good bye to a 42 year old woman? I am at a loss for words here. Just please pray for her and her family. They need your prayers at this time. Thank you all so much.

Vacation time

Hi all! I am currently on vacation from the post office. It feels so good to have some time off. Give my feet a rest. They sure need it. I get 5 weeks vacation per year. Can't complain about that! I am working on my basement some this week. I have a steeler room upstairs, but, I am moving it to the basement. Dawna's son Randy is moving in with us around Thanksgiving, so he needs a bedroom upstairs. So, I am giving him my steelers room, and moving it to the basement. It is really a nice room in the basement. I am going to paint it, and decorate it with some nice Pittsburgh colors. Then I need to move all my Pittsburgh memorabilia down there, and maybe get a steelers rug. I have a recliner and a futon, along with a TV, and surround sound system. Should turn out to be a nice room when I am done.
Dawna and I went out to Breakfast this morning with her brother Denny and his wife Pam. They called this morning and invited us to join them. It was a nice way to start the day. think we might go to my Parents house tonight to use their Hot tub. That should help Dawna's back, and my feet. We used to have a hot tub, but, it kind of died on us. It would have cost us too much to have it repaired, so, we gave it away. Now, I wish we had it back. Oh well, guess we can use my parents hot tub for now.
Dinner is almost ready, so I will end this for now. Will post pictures of my new steeler room when it is completed. Have a great day everyone!

More Pictures from Dawna's Birthday

Just wanted to add a few more pics from Dawna's party last week. It went well, and everyone had a great time.
Also, please pray for Dawna's cousin Tammy's little boy Grant. He was in a bad accident on Sunday Afternoon. His Uncle Dan accidentally ran over him with a riding lawn mower. He is in Pittsburgh Children's Hospital. He is 4 years old. Pray that he doesn't lose his leg. More on that when I know more.

Dawna's birthday

Yesterday, we had a surprise 50Th birthday party for my wife, Dawna. This is a picture of her and our granddaughter, Evelyn. We surprised her by having her son, Randy fly up from Texas. He also brought his daughter Evelyn. It was a big surprise for Dawna. We really got her good. Jim and Mindie did a lot of the work for this party. I really appreciate all their help with this. We had 40-50 people show up to help Dawna celebrate. I really think she enjoyed the party and was truly surprised about everything. It was so hard for all of us to keep this a secret. Randy flew in on Friday and stayed with Mindie and Jim until the party on Sunday. I felt bad that he was in town, and Dawna didn't know until Sunday. But, she understood after we surprised her. She knows she is loved by us all, and all of her friends love her, too. We are going to take Evelyn to the Good Shepherd now, to look at clothes for her. Talk to you all soon.

Where has the time gone?

I did not realize that it has been over 2 weeks since I have blogged on here. I knew it had been awhile, but was not aware it was that long. Guess I have been busy doing other things besides being on here. Not sure how many people are still reading this, but, I will try and keep going as long as I can. Dawna is singing at a fund raiser tonight at the Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex. It is to benefit the Pregnancy Center in Sharon. She is singing two songs, and we get a free meal! Not bad. Should be a good time, and it is for a good cause.
Dawna's birthday is one week from today. She turns the big 50. And 2 days after her birthday, we will be celebrating our 5Th Wedding Anniversary. Not sure what we will do to celebrate that yet, probably go out to dinner. Maybe see a movie afterwards. We will see. Not sure if there is anything worth seeing right now.
I have been working a lot, also. But, I have been getting a day off in the middle of the week, which is really nice. I was off today. And I am off next Monday, but, that is a holiday, so I guess that really doesn't count as a normal day off. That's okay, I will take any day off I can get.
Steelers are off this week. They are 4-1 so far. Pretty good start. They lost to the Eagles a few weeks ago. I think they are one of the best teams in the league this year. Maybe even a chance to win it all??? That would be great. Have to keep all the players healthy. Willie Parker missed the last 2 games. He should be back next week.
Okay, that's about it for now. I will try and get more news on here a little sooner next time. Have a great week!

Whats new.

It has been a week since I have writ en anything on here. I did not realize it had been that long. I guess life has been a little busy for me here. Dawna and I were asked to join a bible study group from our church. They meet every Friday evening, and they take turns at each others homes. We had the opportunity to host this past Fridays group. We had a very enjoyable time. There are 4 other couples from our church that are in this group. All couples are close to our age group, which makes it very nice. We have a snack, fellowship with each other for a while, then study the bible. We also have a prayer list, and praise list each week. I think Fridays are going to be a good night for us for a while.
The Steelers lost their first game this past Sunday to the Philadelphia Eagles. It was not a good game. Roethlisberger got sacked 8 times. Our offensive line has to get better and give him better protection, or it could be a long season. I hope it was just one game. They play again next Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens. Hopefully it will be an easy win.
Long day at work today. One of our postal carriers called off sick, so all of us had to work an extra hour and a half. Beautiful day outside, so that helped some. Still, it was a lot of walking. Legs are a little weary tonight. Guess I am just getting older. Arthritis is my big toes hurt a lot too. Am trying Arthritis strength Tylenol to see if that helps.
That's about it for now. 6 more games, and the Pirate season will be over!

Steelers and work.

The Steelers have started off this season with a perfect 2-0 record. They beat Houston pretty handily the first game of the year in Pittsburgh. Ben Roethlisberger only had one incompletion during the game. Willie Parker had a great game rushing. Overall they looked very good. They traveled to Cleveland for their second game on Sunday night. The steelers won 10-6. Very low scoring game. I think the weather had a lot to do with that. The remnants of Hurricane Ike blew through that night. Winds were very high. But, the defense did their job, and shut down the Browns. Next up, are the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday. Could be 3-0!
I went back to work today. It was my first day in almost 3 weeks. I feel it now. My legs ache tonight. I haven't walked that much in the past few weeks, so my legs feel like jelly tonight. I will be okay after a few days. Just need to get back into the swing of things.
That's about it for now. You all have a great day, and I will be back here soon.

In memory of Seth

This is Seth Weaver. He is a little boy that Dawna used to take care of when she worked for Interim Health Care. He is a special needs boy. Seth passed away last night around 6:30 PM. Seth could not see, could not walk, could not move real well. We are not sure if he understood everything, or even knew us all. But, he was special to Dawna and I. Seth was at our wedding. We brought him to our house many times for respite care. I got to know Seth quite well, and I will miss him. He is in a much better place now. No more pain, and hopefully he is whole now. I know his parents, Scott and Jenny will miss him, but, they can continue on with their lives knowing they did the best they could for him. His funeral is on Monday, and Dawna and I will be there to say goodbye to little Seth. It will be a sad day for us here, but, a joyous day for Seth. Please keep his family in your prayers this week. I am sure they would appreciate that.

Mom's Turn.

Well, yesterday was my mother's turn to have surgery. She had cataract surgery at Greenville Hospital yesterday morning. Everything went well. Dawna took her to the hospital and sat with her and brought her home. I stayed with my Dad, and we had a nice morning together. Her surgery was at 9Am, and she was home by noon. That is pretty cool, how quick everything is done anymore.
Teddy had a haircut yesterday afternoon. He looks so cute now. He actually loved having a "spa" treatment. After he was finished, he came running all through the house playing with his bone toys. He is such a funny dog.
After that we went to Goldstein's furniture store in Hermitage and bought a new dining room table and hutch. We also bought a new love seat and 2 matching recliners. We needed new living room furniture. Our sofa and love seat are just not comfortable any more. So, we got a pretty good deal on all these. No interest if we pay it off in 2 years. Not a problem.
I go see my foot doctor today to get my stitches out in my foot. The Post Office called this morning and wanted to see if I could go back to work on Friday instead of next Monday. I told them I need to ask my doctor first. I would rather wait till Monday, but, we will see.

Mindie's Surgery

Seems like we are all taking turns having surgery here. Today was Mindie's turn. She had a sterile needle stick in here finger a few weeks ago, while working at White Cliff nursing home. It became badly infected, and now she has MRSA. They scheduled her for surgery today. Surgery was supposed to be at 8:15am. Her Doctor was running late, so it got pushed back at least half an hour. She went through the surgery OK, and was in recovery room around 10:30, but nobody came out and told us. She was admitted to her room, and Dawna and I went to burger king for lunch for everyone. After we got back, Doctor Anderson still had not made an appearance to tell us what he did. We finally came home around 1PM. Mindie needed her rest, and so did we. Hopefully, Dr. Anderson will see her sometime today so we know what exactly they did to her. Her finger was all wrapped up, so we know she at least kept her finger. She was in some pain, but morphine will help that. Will update more when we find out more.

Feeling Better

Well, it has been 5 days since my foot surgery. I have been using a cane to get around for the most part. Today, I quit using the cane. My foot feels so much better. I go back to see my doctor this afternoon. He will check out the area where he operated and change the dressing. The only area it really hurts is around where he operated. My heel feels better, which is great! We will find out more this afternoon after he changes the dressing. I am feeling really positive so far about this surgery. Only time will tell now. Thanks to all of you who prayed for me. I really appreciate it all.
Dawna has been keeping me busy at home. Small things. Taking laundry down to the basement, and taking it back upstairs. Trying to fix her coffee maker. Need to move my HD TV back upstairs to the Steel er room before the week ends. Have to get ready for football season! Want to cut grass, but I better wait a few more days. Might have to hire someone to do it. Not sure if my doctor will let me do the grass. I just don't like sitting around doing nothing. I get too antsy.
The Pirates have lost 10 in a row. Not good. They play the reds next in Cincinnati. Dawna's Dad is going to the game Wednesday night with his friend Reba. He has really become quite the baseball fan. Problem is, he likes the Reds, not the Pirates! I will have to work on changing that!
Nice day outside today, so, I am getting off here and taking advantage of the nice weather. Talk to you all soon!

Home from the hospital.

Just a quick note to let you all know that I am home from the hospital, and the surgery on my foot went well. Not much pain yet, but, I am sure I will have some tonight. The doctor gave me some vicodan, so that should help out! Hopefully the drugs won't knock me out so I can watch the Steelers game on TV tonight. One of the nurses had 2 tickets to the game tonight, and was selling them. She told me I could prop my foot up on the seat in front, and I could go to the game. I thought better of it, and decided to just watch the game on TV. I will be off from work for at least the next 2 1/2 weeks, so I will have plenty of time to update you all on here. Nathan (my Grandson) started kindergarten today. I bet he had a great time. I will keep you all posted on how I am doing. Feel free to stop by and say hello to me!

Latest news from here.

It has been a while since I have blogged any news on here. I apologize for that, but, things have been busy here. I am having my foot surgery in 2 days. Kind of nervous about that, but also anxious to get it done. My foot has really been hurting more this week. Too much walking on the mail routes will do that. I will let you all know how it goes, and if it was successful.
The Pirates have been really lousy lately. They are on a 5 game losing streak, and have lost 17 out of the past 24 games. Not a good way to end the season. Looks like they will definitely have their 16Th losing season in a row. That is not a good record to have. Maybe next year??
My dad is doing better. He went on a pontoon boat ride this past Saturday. Sounds like he really enjoyed it too. He got out and went to church on Sunday, and out to breakfast afterwards. I think he will be just fine.
Joey starts back to school tomorrow. He is a senior this year. He wants the school year to go slow, but, it will probably fly by. He will be going to basic training for the National Guard right after he graduates. I hope by then that the USA will be pulling all of our troops back from Iraq. I don't want to see him going overseas. I know he may have to, but, I hope he doesn't.
Okay, that's about all for now. Will write more after my surgery. Keep me in your prayers.

The Olympics

Have you all been watching the Olympics this year? It has really been interesting watching on TV. Michael Phelps has been truly amazing. I have enjoyed watching swimming, and diving. I watched some of the gymnastics earlier. Haven't watched much basketball. Overall, It has been worth watching. Getting tired of watching the Pirates lose all the time. Nice to see something different.
Well, I found out my date for my surgery on my foot. It will be on August 28Th. They will cut 2 small slits on both sides of my foot, and loosen the tendon. A couple of stitches to close it, and they will be all done. Doctor told me it will only take 15 minutes or so. I will be out of it for the surgery. Not looking forward to getting it done, but, If it will get rid of the pain in my foot, then I am ready to do it.
Going to a party at my parents house tonight. My niece, Monica is turning 21 this week. Dawna and I are riding our scooters up to Jamestown. It will be fun. We are having a blast riding them all over the place. This was money well spent! If the weather is nice tomorrow, then we will ride them to church, too. Motorcycles next?? Maybe.....

Daily happenings.....

Not a lot new today. We took a ride to Mercer to look at another dog for a playmate with our Teddy. This dog was a pekingese too, but, was not well taken care of. She was only 7 months old, and not really house broken. So, Teddy is still our only child.
Nathan started Kindergarten this week. Hard to believe. He will be 6 in November. He is really growing up fast. He seems to like school so far.
Dad seems to be doing better since his back surgery. He still has a lot of pain, but, that is typical after back surgery. Keep him in your prayers, though. He could always use a little help! My brother has surgery recently too. He is recuperating at home now. Hopefully he will get better soon, too.
Mindie just called here. Looks like they are getting a new house out on Conneaut Lake Road. Good for them! I am so happy and proud of them. They bought a Scion off of us about 2 years ago. The car was practically brand new. They now only owe 3 more payments and it will be all theirs. They are really doing good.
Can't think of anything else going on. Going to go watch the Buccos on TV. They are playing the Reds tonight. Maybe a win??? We shall see.

Been a busy week!

I have been on vacation this week, and it has been a busy one. It all started with my "prep" day on Monday for my Colonoscopy on Tuesday. That was no fun. Everyone told me the prep day would be the worst. They were right. The actual procedure was not bad, cause I don't remember any of it. I was out for a nap! After they put me under, I can't recall anything they did. So, I survived that. Wednesday, Dawna and I had a nice day together. We took a nice long scooter ride together. That was a lot of fun. I enjoy doing things with her. On Thursday, Dawna's new scooter arrived. It is a beauty! Has a windshield, and a double seat(for Nathan to ride with her). We took a short ride that night, after I got it all put together, and uncrated. Today, Dawna had a Mylogram and a CT scan at the Greenville hospital. We were there from 7Am till almost 3PM. Long day for her, but, hopefully the results will show she does not need more surgery. According to the radiologist, things looked good. Will have to wait for Dr. Kang to give her the official results, but, things look good. Do not want any more surgery for her.
Tonight the Steelers play their first pre-season game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Pre-season games don't mean a thing, but, I am excited that football season is finally here again! Been a long year for the Pirates so far, so it will be nice to watch the Steelers play now. I think they are going to have a very good season. Keep your fingers crossed! The rest of my vacation will be just relaxing, and riding the scooters. Back to work on Monday!

New Laptop for me

I have not posted anything on here for a few days. My laptop died on me this past week, and I have been too lazy to get on the desktop computer to do much of anything. Plus, I am on vacation this week, so, I really haven't had a lot of free time to get on here. Well, I finally went out and bought a new laptop tonight. It's a HP. Very nice with a built in web cam. I should be able to keep up on all news items now!
I had a colonoscopy today. Wasn't as bad as I thought i would be. The prep was the worst part. The procedure itself only took about 20-30 minutes. They put me to sleep, and next thing I knew, I was awake talking to Dawna again. Don't remember a thing after the anesthesiologist put the medicine in the IV to knock me out. Pretty cool how they do that. But, I am glad it's over. Went to Bob Evans tonight and ate like a pig. Bob-B-Q Ribs and Chicken. Very good.
OK, going to go watch the Pirates game. Playing the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight. No score so far, in the 3rd inning. They got hammered last night 13-7. Have a nice day, and I will talk to you all later!

Pirates make trades.

Well, the trading deadline has come and gone, and it looks like the Pirates have made a major trade. Jason Bay is going to the red sox, and the pirates are getting 4 minor league players. One is believed to be Andy LaRoche, the younger brother of Adam LaRoche. Lets hope he starts off the year better than his brother. I am not too thrilled about this trade yet. I liked Jason Bay. I thought he was a good fit with the Pirates. Apparently, money was a factor, as usual. Bay will be a free agent next year, and the pirates don't have the money too pay him what he is worth. The Pirates also traded Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte to the Yankees earlier this week. They did not get much for them either. Guess time will tell on both trades. At least they didn't trade Jack Wilson. My wife would have a fit if they did that. More updates later if I get any.

Scooter Babe

This is my wife, Dawna. Just call her "Scooter Babe". Her mother took this picture the other day. Her mother thinks she looks like someone from outer space. I think she looks like someone who likes riding scooters! We are having a ball riding them. We took a ride to Mindie and Jim's house in Transfer yesterday. Today we just took a long ride up Donation Road, across St. Glory Road, and back down Fredonia Road. Was a lot of fun! Problem is, I can't keep up with her, riding my black and gold scooter. It just isn't fast enough. Once we get our other new one, we will be able to fly all over town. I can't wait!

Pirates just lost 3 out of 4 to the padres, and now they play the Rockies again. They just lost 4 in a row to them last week. I am ready for football season! Steelers opened training camp yesterday. Won't be long, and they will be playing their first game. I think they should have a good season. Coach Tomlin put Casey Hampton the Physically unable to perform list today. He could not run all the drills today. He is too fat. Weighs 325 lbs. Hopefully he will be able to play once the season starts. Tomlin won't put up with any crap from any player. I like that. They are all overpaid anyhow. Wish I had some of their money.

Dad is home from the hospital. He went back in to the Greenville Hospital this past Friday. Running a fever. Possible infection. They sent him home this morning. I talked to him earlier today, and he sounds good. Keep praying for him.

Going to go watch the Pirates now. Guess I am a glutton for punishment. Maybe they will actually win a game. We'll see. Have a great day!

Problems with scooters

This second scooter we bought (the blue one) has been nothing but problems since we got it. When we first got it, it had a scratch on one side of the left fender. The odometer did not work. The front brakes didn't work. We finally got the brakes fixed. The company sent us a new odometer, which I replaced. Once I got it in, I realized the speedometer only showed kilometers per hour, and no miles per hour. The odometer worked, though. I called scooter domain, and they said the replacement speedometers they received from china all had kilometer and no miles per hour. Figures. Made in China. They are going to try and find a local replacement for me. Probably take a month or so. In the meantime, we have been waiting for another scooter to get here, which we ordered July 10Th. I found out today, they had no more blue ones, so, that's why we haven't got it yet. All they had is red. Dawna said Red is OK with her! It will be shipped tomorrow. Amazing! All we had to do was specify any other color, and it would be here now. They should have called us, and told us they had no blue, but, they didn't.

Anyhow, how about those Pirates? They swept Houston after being swept by Colorado. What a strange season it has been for them. They now play San Diego for the next 4 games. San Diego has the worst record in baseball. I sure hope we sweep them. We are winning 2-0 right now in the 3rd inning, so I am going to watch them win. See you all later!

Happy Birthday, Mindie!

Today was Mindie's 29Th Birthday. This is her, in the nurse's uniform. Doesn't she look like her mother? We took her out to dinner at Perkins. Had a nice time. Then, Dawna and I went for a ride on our scooters out to my sister Paula's in Kennard. While we were there, my mother called. They were on their way home from Pittsburgh, bringing my Dad home from the hospital. Wanted us to meet them at their house in Jamestown to help get Dad in the house. We got there 5 minutes after they did, and he was already in the house, checking emails on his computer. That's my dad! He probably should have been in bed, after the long ride home, but, he wanted to see how many emails he had. He had 169! That should keep him busy for awhile!
Dawna sang at the Nazarene church this afternoon for a kids picnic they had today. Was very nice, but, we had to dodge the raindrops. They had another Southern Gospel band too, and they were very enjoyable to listen too. Was a very productive day. Oh, and the Pirates lost again! They are starting their second half collapse again. Seems like every year after the all star break, they lose a bunch of games in a row. Its a 4 and counting now. Time to trade some players!

The Pirates are not very good.

I am sitting here tonight watching the Pirates play the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies started this series as one of the worst teams in baseball. I think the Pirates might be the worst now. The Pirates lost the first 2 games of this 4 game series. And tonight they are losing 7-1 in the 4th inning. Not good. The Rockies scored 5 runs in the first inning, and haven't stopped. Seems like every year after the all-star break, the Pirates play poorly. Maybe it's time to start trading away some of these players, while we can still get something in return. Good news is, football training camps open very soon! Here we go Steelers, Here we go!
Talked to my Mom tonight, and she said my Dad is doing OK, but Doesn't look like he will be home tomorrow. Maybe Monday? He has gotten out of bed and walked some, but, his appetite is not good, and he had to have a catheter put back in. Keep him in your prayers. Will try and get more updates tomorrow on him.

Been a busy week!

Yes, it has been a very busy week. I have not had much time to write anything in my blog since Sunday. Dawna and I went to Pittsburgh on Wednesday for my Dad's back surgery. We left here at 6 am, and went through a lot of bad traffic in Pittsburgh. Plus, there was a detour we had to follow to get to the hospital. We must have sat in traffic without moving hardly at all for 30 minutes. We finally arrived at the hospital around 8:30 am. Dad was already in surgery. We sat with Mom and Rose and her husband, Dave, in the busy waiting room. The place was packed. People had little kids there, and other people were hogging the rocking chairs which was not a nice thing to do when my 75 year old mother would have loved to have a comfortable seat to sit in. Anyhow, the doctor finally came and talked to us after the surgery was over, around 1:15 Pm. All went well, which was good. He had back surgery about 1 1/2 years ago, and Dr. Kang said he had to pretty much redo the whole surgery. Screws were loose, and he had to fuse the discs. He stayed in recovery until 5:30 PM. They told us, they had to wait for a room to clear out, and then to have it cleaned. Was a long day for us all. We saw Dad, and he looked okay, and was cracking jokes, so, we felt it was okay to head home. We got home around 8 PM. Had to work today, and boy was it hot! Dawna turned on the Air Conditioning this morning. Feels good in the house. Talked to Rose tonight, and she said they had Dad up out of bed today, which is very good. He could be home by Monday.
Pirates and Rockies are on TV now. Gonna go watch some of it and then head to bed. Old guys like me can't stay up late anymore. Need my beauty sleep! Talk to you all later!

Party on!

We got my mom last night. I told you she just celebrated her 75Th birthday this past week. We had a surprise party for her last night at the Pit and Pub in Conneaut Lake. She had no idea! We had all her friends and all my brothers and sisters (except for Chris, She is in Switzerland for a month). I think they had 80 people there. Was a great time by all. My sister Rose and her husband Dave stayed with us for the weekend. We all had a wonderful time. It was nice to have company here. I will post pics of her party early on this week. After we got home from the party, I turned on the pirate game to see how they were doing. They were down 9-3 in the 6Th inning. I really didn't want to watch them get hammered by the Cardinals, so, I put on the movie "Charlies Angels" on Cinemax. Went to bed after the movie, without checking how the game went. I got up this morning, and after 2-3 cups of coffee, I got on the Internet, and checked on the scores. I could not believe my eyes! The Pirates came back and won 12-11 in 10 innings! Nate Mclouth hit a 3 run homer in the ninth inning, and Jason Michaels hit a game winning 2 run homer in the bottom of the 10Th! Unbelievable! They have a remarkable record this year in extra innings. I guess you can never turn off the game, and give up on the buccos. They just never give up.
Looks like I may have sold my scooter. Had a guy come look at it today from Farrell. Dawna and I are going to have matching blue scooters. And they both go 60 miles per hour! Pretty cool. We will have loads of fun on them. Our other new one should be here this week sometime.
My Dad is having back surgery on Wednesday of this week. He will be at Montifiore Hospital in Pittsburgh. Please keep him in your prayers this week. The same surgeon that did Dawna's back is doing his. I will be there with him on Wednesday.
Got to go watch the Pirates now. Maybe I will watch the whole game today! Later.......

Another scooter.

Dawna finally got her new scooter yesterday. It was supposed to be red, but, apparently they didn't have red available, so hers is blue. A very nice shade of blue. I will take pics of her on it, and post them on here this weekend. It did have some damage to it after we un-crated it. Had a small scrape on one side, and there is a problem with the front brake, but, we will get that all taken care of. I need to get the insurance done tomorrow, and get it registered and inspected. Once Dawna passes her test, she will be ready to go. I took it for a ride today, and it really flies. Much faster than mine. And it takes the bumps much better. Good suspension on hers. I think she will have fun with this. Happy early 50Th Birthday honey!

I went and saw my foot doctor yesterday, and he gave me another injection for now to help me get through a few more weeks. He is going to do surgery on my right foot sometime during the end of August. Wanted to do it sooner, but, the post office has too many people off between now and the last week of August. Summer vacations going on. So, I can wait till then. Will be off work for 2 weeks. Sick leave will take care of that.

Bucs have won 2 in a row over Houston. Going for the sweep tonight. Had a long rain delay last night, and the game didn't end till 1:10 am. But, the Pirates won, so, that's all that matters. Going to watch the game now. Have a nice day!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my Mother's 75th Birthday. This is a picture of her taken recently at my sister Rose's 50th birthday party. My mom has been a great mother. She raised 8 kids. I don't know how anyone could do that these days. Anyhow, just wanted to wish her a very happy birthday! And many more......
Dawna's scooter did not come today. She waited all day for it to show up, and it never came. She finally called them, and they said it never left the terminal. Maybe tomorrow? Dawna failed her written test for her motorcycle permit on Saturday. She will just have to keep taking it till she passes it! I know she will pass it eventually.
My sister chris and her family are on their way to Europe. They are swapping homes for a month with another family from Europe. Pretty cool. Chris lives in Largo, Florida. They have planned this for quite a long time. Hope they have a great time.
Got to go now. Pirates and Astros are getting ready for a series in Pittsburgh. Battle for last place. Lots of fun!! See you all tomorrow.

Trade rumors.

Well, the Pirates are talking about trading Jack Wilson. I sure hope they don't do it. Jack is my favorite pirate right now, and Dawna's favorite too. He plays baseball the way it should be played. And he has always enjoyed playing for the pirates. I would love to see him retire as a pirate. He is a good person. They sent Tom Gorzolanney to AAA today. Good move as far as I can see. He has down nothing all year. Maybe a change of scenery will help him pitch better. He got hammered in yesterdays game. They should send more of their players to the minor leagues if they can't compete in the major leagues.

Had a long day at work today. Had to work overtime. Mail was a little heavy since there was no delivery yesterday. So, I am going to kick back tonight, and just relax, and watch the Pirates on TV. Dish guy is coming tomorrow to install the Dish. Tired of Cable always freezing up, and going out on us. Will see how much better it is.

More of Teddy Bear.

Okay, here is teddy bear with his new haircut. Isn't he adorable? I just wanted to put this picture on. I am going outside to enjoy this beautiful day with my wife. Will blog more tomorrow. Have a safe and happy fourth of July!

Thursday, July 3, 2008

Our newest addition.

This is Teddy Bear, our newest member of the family. His hair is much shorter now, though. He had a haircut yesterday. He is Dawna's best friend. Actually, he is a very good dog. Just won't eat. He wants real food, not dog food. He has cereal and milk for breakfast, and a scrambled egg for dinner. I think we need to change his name, though. Any suggestions?
No baseball game tonight. Pirates could use a day off. They play the Brewers this weekend. Brewers are in third place, pirates are fourth. Could be a good series. I have the day off from work tomorrow. Gonna just relax with my wife. Nothing special planned. Dawna's scooter will be here on Monday. She is so excited! Talk to you all later.

Quiet night at home.

Well, all is quiet here tonight. Randy and Evelyn are on their way to Texas. Should be in San Antonio by 10 or 11 PM. Kind of quiet without them here. Dawna and I will just get back to our humdrum lives now. Our dog, Teddy, got a bath and haircut today. He looks so much better. I will get a new pic of him posted on here soon. He probably feels better too. Dawna just gave him a scrambled egg for dinner. He does not seem to like dog food. He eats cereal for breakfast. I swear he is human. And of course, Dawna spoils him a lot, too!
The Pirates pulled one out last night. They went into extra innings again. They have the best record in baseball in extra inning games. Maybe they should play extra innings in all their games. They scored 2 runs in the top of the 11th inning. Jumping Jack Wilson hit a triple, which drove in one run, then he scored on a single. The pirates almost blew it in the bottom of the inning. They gave up one run, and the reds had the tieing run on second, before the pirates held on to win. Now, Matt Capps, their closer, has been put on the disabled list. He will be out for 2 months. Not good. Don't know who they will use as their closer now.

Vacation's over.....

Randy and Evelyn are leaving tomorrow to go back to Texas. Randy is stationed in Del Rio, Texas. He is a Tech Sergeant in the Air Force. This picture was taken on his birthday a few weeks ago. That's his sister, Mindie, taking his picture. I think Randy and Evelyn had a good time here. They sure will be missed though. Evelyn is a wild little girl, but, she is also very sweet. Hope they have a safe and uneventful trip back home.
My Pirates really blew it last night. Matt Capps gave up a double and a game winning home run in the ninth inning. They had a 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the ninth. David Ross lead off with a double. Ken Griffey, Jr. came up next. He did not start the game. Came in for defense in the top of the ninth inning. On the second pitch he saw, he hit his 603rd career home run. They should have walked him. No other hitter in that lineup scares me more than Griffey. Big mistake pitching to him. Tonight they have to face the reds best pitcher. Looks like the Bucs may stay in last place for awhile now. Not good...

Nate-bug

This is Nathan, my little bug and grandson. That's my son, Joey, sitting behind him. Nathan will be 6 in November. He starts Kindergarten this fall. He is such an adorable little boy. He told me when he grows up, he wants to be a baseball player, football player, basketball player, and a mailman! What a kid. He also wants a scooter when he is bigger, too. I think he wants to be just like his "poppa". Nothing wrong with that, I guess. He has a wonderful mother and father, too. Mindie and Jim are very special to me. Mindie is Dawna's daughter and my step-daughter.
Had a pretty easy day delivering mail today. Filled in on our only driving route. Was nice not to have to walk all day for a change. Gave my feet a nice break. Then, I had my Physical Therapy after work. PT doesn't seem to do much for me. I go back to my doctor next week. Hopefully, he can do something else to help the pain go away. Surgery is an option. Will have to see what he says.
Pirates and the reds play tonight. 2 of the worst teams in the NL Central division. Should be interesting, right? We shall see.

Who can so no to this smile?

This is my 4 year old granddaughter, Evelyn. Isn't she adorable? I came in to the house this afternoon, and she was watching cartoons on TV. I, of course, wanted to watch the pirates on TV. They were in the 8th inning, and the game was actually close. Evelyn was upset, and started crying. I felt bad, but, I wanted to see how my buccos would do.
Grayma (That's what she calls my wife) took her upstairs to watch cartoons on the smaller TV in our bedroom. I watched the Pirates lose, and I felt bad about turning off her cartoons. So, She is now sitting next to me, as I am writing this, watching her cartoons again. It is so hard to say no to her. Her dad and her are leaving on Wednesday to go back to Texas. I will surely miss her! She is a beautiful little girl.
Dawna and I went to St. Elizabeth Hospital this afternoon to see a friend of ours from church. He had fallen off a gazebo roof in his back yard, and hurt his back pretty bad. The neurosurgeon came in while we were there, and said he could fix him up, without cutting into his back. Great news! He is such a nice man. He used to be a mail carrier. Maybe that's why I like him so much!
My wife's scooter should be here sometime this week. Have to get it licensed and inspected and get insurance for it. Then she will have to get her motorcycle permit, so she can start riding it. It will be so much fun riding together. We used to ride bicycles together before she hurt her back. Now, we will be able to do more things together and not have to worry about gas prices. I Will post pictures of her scooter as soon as it gets here. More later......

Me and My scooter

OK, this is me amd my scooter. I got ths scooter about a month and a half ago, and I really love it! I just ordered another one, for my wife, for her 50th Birthday, which is in October. I figured I better get it now, so she can ride it during the summer. We rented a couple of scooters when we went to Key West on vacation last month, and really loved riding them. Dawna's new scooter will be red. After she gets hers, we can park the car, and only use it when we really need to. This will cut our gas bill in half. And we will have fun riding them all over town!

Well, my buccos got rained out last night with their last game with the yankees. Probably a good thing, too. They were down 3-1 when the rains came. They play the Tampa Bay Rays this weekend. I am watching theem now, and they are already losing 3-0 after one inning. Not a good start.
My supervisor at the Post Office is retiring. His last day of work is tomorrow. He put his time in, and now is ready for his retirement years. Good luck to you, Bob! I will miss you.

I hate the Yankees!

Have I told you all that lately? I really do hate the Yankees. They have too much money and too many big egos on their team. The Pirates took a beating from them last night, but it would sure be nice if they could pull one out tonight, and take the series from the Yankees. That would really make my day. Ok, enough about baseball for now.
I have a very sore foot, which is not good for a mailman. Thought I had a heel spur, but, my foot doctor says it is planter fascitis. All I know is my foot hurts! I have been going to physical therapy for a week now. Doesn't seem to help much yet. At the end of my mail route, I am usually limping pretty bad. I really worry about it. I can't afford to lose work over this. Guess I just have to learn to work through it.
We shall see how much my wife reads my blog. I bought her something today for her 50th birthday which will be here in October. She knows what she is getting, cause she told me what she wants! I will tell you all what I got her, as soon as it gets here.
One of our clerks at the post office lost her husband last night. She went to wake him up before she left for work, but, he had died in his sleep. Very sad day at work because of this. He was not old, but, he did have some heart problems. My prayers are with her family tonight.

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

Lets Go Bucs!

How about them Buccos? They absolutely trounced the New York Yankees last night! It was a great game, even though our pitcher, Tom Gorzolanny was very wild, as usual. He was lucky to get the win. Good thing our bats were working. Sure hope we can win another one tonight. The pirates had their third largest crowd ever at PNC Park, and there was no giveaways, no fireworks, just baseball, with the hated Yankees. Tonight we have Zach Duke pitching for the pirates against Jaba Chamberlain. He is probably one of the yankees better pitchers. Should be tougher to score, but, I think we can do it.

Today's news.

Can you believe this is my son, Joey? He is only 17 years old, and he is 2 inches taller than me. And I am 6"2"! He is a great son. He gets all A's and B's. He will be graduating from High School next year, then he is going to the National Guard. Kind of surprised me when he told me about this. I spent 15 years in the Air Force. Would like to see him talk to other recruiters, but, he seems to be set on this. It will do him good, though. He is planning on going to college trough the Guard, so that will take care of a lot of college expenses.
Not a very newsworthy day here. Getting ready for the big Pirates and Yankees series in baseball tonight. Have to root for my buccos all the way here. I am the biggest Yankee hater around. Can't stand it when teams that have all that money think they can practically buy the pennant. Will give you updates on how the games go each day on here.

Monday, June 23, 2008

No Ball game tonight.

The pirates have the day off today. Guess that means they won't lose tonight. The big, bad New York Yankees come to town tomorrow. First time the Yankees have played in Pittsburgh since "Maz" hit his famous home run in 1960. I hope the Pirates play some good baseball and beat up on the Yankees the next 3 days. I HATE the Yankees!

I had physical therapy after work today for my foot. I have planter fascitis on my right foot. Really bothers me a lot, especially after delivering mail all day. So, my doctor is trying physical therapy for a few weeks to see if that helps. I sure hope it does. Not good for a mailman to have bad feet!

I am not on my usual mail route this week. One of our carriers is one vacation this week, so I am doing his route. Mostly downtown, and some areas close to downtown. I know all the routes in Greenville, so, I get pulled to do other routes when they need coverage. Guess that's why they call me "Super Dave" at work!

Not much else going on today. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Let's have a picnic!

Today, after church, we had a picnic to celebrate Randy's 31st birthday. Randy's daughter, Evelyn was so excited about a picnic. She wanted to pass out tickets to everyone here at our house for the picnic. She is so delightful. And very excitable! Dawna's mom and step-father were here, along with her daughter, Mindie and her husband Jim. Of course, Nathan was here, too. Dawna's brother Denny stopped by, too. He was on his way down south on his Goldwing motorcycle, but, still found time to stop by for the picnic! His wife Pam came too. Oh, and my son Joey was here for the weekend, also. After we all ate, Nathan, Evelyn, and Joey all went swimming in our pool. Water temperature was a mere 74 degrees. Way too cold for me, but, the kids wouldn't let that stop them! They stayed in for as long as they could stand it. No one wanted to be the first to say they were cold. We finally had to tell them it was time to get out, cause their lips were turning blue! Too funny!

After everyone went home, I came in to watch the Pirates game on TV. They couldn't sweep the blue jays. Seems like they can't ever sweep a series. Well, they lost today 8-5. Not a well played game. They have the day off tomorrow, before the big bad Yankees come to town.

It is raining here now. Was nice earlier today. Glad the rain held off till now. Hope you all had a nice day today. Talk to you all tomorrow!

A new day....

Well, today is saturday, the first day of summer. I love summer. Wish it would warm up more though. Looks like rain here today. I actually stayed up last night and watched the pirates win a game. They beat the Blue Jays 1-0 in 12 innings. Was a good game to watch. Hopefully they can do just as good tonight.

Today is My step-son Randy's birthday. He is 31 today. He has been in the Air Force for 13 years now. Looks like he will make it a career. He is a medic. He is home on leave right now with hs daughter Evelyn. She is so cute.

This is a picture of her with me at the top of this blog. She just turned 4 years old last month.

Today, my son Joey told me he has joined the National Guard. He will be a senior at high school next year, so, he won't actually join until he graduates. Then it will be off to basic training. At least he will get to continue his education. College will be good for him. I am really proud of him.

Not much else knew today. Had an easy day delivering the mail. Light summer mail they call it. I guess the winter mail is heavy winter mail! Oh well, enjoy it while I can! Talk to you all later.

More from me....

Did you ever have one of those days where nothing seemed to go right? Well, I had one today with the cable company. Good old Time-Warner cable. Last night, I was watching a show we had on DVR, and it froze up on us. I tried rebooting the cable box and it would not come back on. Called the cable company and they said nothing they could do to fix it. Scheduled a technician to come out to my house next wednesday. Wow! I have to wait that long? Tried swapping out cable boxes this morning, with the cable company in hermitage. Didn't work. Then, the internet and the phones quit working today too. Of course, I have everything through the cable company. Bundling they call it. Spent 30 minutes on the phone after work, and they finally got the phone and the internet to work again. Couldn't get my High Def TV to work though. I am just about ready to go to the dish. I moved my cable box from my TV upstairs to the big screen TV downstairs, and it worked! Just no high def. Oh well, at least I can watch the pirates tonight! Oh wait, they will probably lose anyhow. Probably should just read a book, instead. I would go swimming, but, the water is too cold in the pool. Anyhow, that was my day. How was yours??

My family

OK, some people want to hear more about my family, so here goes. I have 4 brothers and 3 sisters. 2 older brothers, and everyone else is younger than me. Can't say that I have a favorite sister (sorry Paula!) cause they are all special! Most of my family is scattered around the USA. I have a brother in Erie, another one in Greenville, one in New Jersey, and one up by Jamestown, PA. My sisters live in Meadowlands, Pa, Largo, Florida and Kennard (which is a suburb of Greenville.

My parents live in Jamestown, Pa. My dad (Paul) is 77, and my mother (Mary Alice) will turn 75 this year. They are the greatest parents in the world!

I have one daughter (Tiffany) who is 27 and lives in Greenville. I also have 2 sons, who both live in Sharon, Pa with their mother. Brian is 24 and Joey is 17. My wife has a son, Randy who will turn 31 this sunday, and a daughter, Mindie who is 28. I also have 2 grandkids. Nathan is 5, and Evelyn is 4. They are great kids! We also just had an addition to our family. Teddy Bear joined our family yesterday. He is a 1 1/2 year old pekingese puppy. I will add pictures of all of them as soon as I can figure out how to do it!

My sister, Paula, and Mindie are both right. I am a sports FANATIC! I will never miss a steelers game, as my father and my brothers can tell you. I try and watch as many pirates games as I can, but, lately, they have been terrible to watch.
The penguins had a great season, and I watched a lot of their games in the playoffs this year. Maybe next year they can take the cup home, where it belongs, in Pittsburgh.

My wife and I went to Key West, Florida last month for a much needed vacation. We had a great time, but, it was much too hot. 95 everyday. That's too hot! We rented scooters while we were there, and really enjoyed them. I bought one before we left for florida, and I love riding it around here. I drive it to work, and run to wal-mart, and anywhere else I feel like riding to! It is a blast, and it gets 120 miles per gallon. Can't beat that!

Okay, enough for now. I will write more as I come up with ideas. Anything you want to hear about, let me know!

About me

I am a 51 year old male, from the great state of Pennsylvania. I am married to a wonderful woman, named Dawna. This is my second marriage, and I could not be happier. I have 3 kids, from my previous marriage, and my wife has 2 kids. Sort of like the Brady Bunch, I guess. I am a mail carrier, and I really enjoy it. I am a big sports fan. Mainly of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. I decided to try doing a blog, after reading some on here. I am willing to talk about most anything.
